Flavor Description:
This flavor was one of my most anticipated flavors to come out in a while, I love Al Fakher Grape, and it’s tough finding something to beat that! Well, Purple Savior, which is part of the Starbuzz “Bold” line, is nearly that flavor.
The flavor is a great one, and by any means could be more appealing to most, compared to any other grape. I feel as though the grape part needs to be stronger, though it had a slight ‘chill’ or mint flavoring to it, which makes it different than I expected. It last a long time for smoking and seems to keep it’s flavor during that time. The scent reminds me of a grape soda, and honestly so does the taste, so once again it’s not really grape, just grape soda. Yes, a grape soda is a new concept, but just a weird one that does translate well in to shisha, now just a matter of time before we have orange soda and cream soda flavored shisha (which we may already).
Once again, the cut is a typical Starbuzz cut, packed with stems and tobacco. I really wish the stem issue would be addressed. It seems to take away from the amount of supply that can be smoked. The good news is it appears to lack the dye, which is really a good thing, though grape flavors usually have the lack of dye anyways.
I feel for the flavor to be ‘bold’-er it should have more of a grape flavor, less of a grape soda. I did enjoy this flavor, and feel as it is worth trying at least once. Even though the grape isn’t as strong as I would like, it does makes for a great smoke. If you’re going to advertise a flavor as grape, make it a grape that blows my mind! On the other hand, keep soda flavored shisha coming, just add soda to what you say it is!
OVERALL: 7/10
Review of the limited quantity of Purple Savior inbound! Look for it later this week!!!
Once I get 50 FOLLOWERS I will be giving away one (1) 100g of Starbuzz’s Simple Mint from their Bold line. So get people to join!
Starbuzz has been on a roll with their ‘Bold’ line for a while now, releasing new flavors every few months. This ‘Bold’ line has been a way to discontinue older flavors, by bringing news one with better smoke, and stronger flavor. Though currently I have had issues with Starbuzz and their distribution of these new flavors, I am still very excited to try these new flavors.
NEW STARBUZZ ‘BOLD’ FLAVORS
-Purple Savior
-Simply Mint
-Irish Peach
-Watermelon Freeze
-Peach Mist
-Code Blue
-Citrus Melon
I have tried two of these flavors, ‘Code Blue’ and ‘Simply Mint’… both are good flavors, ‘Simply Mint’ is a sweet winterfresh-type mint, which I enjoy a lot mixed with Social Smoke’s “Absolute Zero”. “Code Blue” is very much “Blue Mist” with a stronger chocolate flavor.
Also, I will note according to Starbuzz Tobacco’s Facebook page… All these flavors besides “Simply Mint” and “Code Blue” have been released in limited qualities. My question is, where and when can I find them at my local hookah lounge, or even their website? Also, on a side note… they have been advertising the flavor “Skull” since the beginning of the ‘Bold’ line… where is this flavor? Will these new flavors be a myth as well?
We will just wait and see, and when these flavors are more widely available I will be posting plenty of reviews!
*UPDATE* I just got off the phone with an important person of the Starbuzz family… they have told me within the next two weeks “Purple Savior” and “Citrus Melon” will be availiable via www.starbuzztobacco.com.
I do have to say, this is great customer service on how they approached me which was simple, I sent them an email stating I am interested in the new “Bold” flavors coming out. I had explained how I know they are in limited quantities, though I am interested in some to try and want an estimated time. They quickly (about five minutes later) actually called me, telling me they are sorry for the delay, and they will be available to the general public within the next few weeks.
Spring afternoon with Social Smoke’s Absolute Zero… Review coming for this classic flavor soon!
Let me start by saying this review will be very biased. This is the first hookah and first place I ever smoked hookah at. It has changed over the six years it’s been open, but that is not a bad thing.
Originally opened by now friends of mine, Donnie, Tim and Joanna on the Michigan State University campus, this lounge has since changed owners to a great man named Pat. By far the staff and atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly to have a night out. Compliments of the highest order go out to Ryan, an employee since the near beginning.
Ryan has worked hard to keep the lounge a great place by having the most recent flavors by Starbuzz and Social Smoke. The whole staff is great! They provide quick and friendly service. The variety of flavors and house mixes are astounding! I recommend Alice in Wonderland, as being one of the best house mixes a lounge can provide. They feature many other great house mixes as well. Please take time to try them all. I cannot emphasize enough how great this place is! Please take the time to stop in and smoke.
The place is really relaxed compared to most other lounges. Also providing free wifi, which is another great feature to come in and do homework or have some World of Warcraft time!
Here’s the rundown:
The environment/ music- They have a diverse playlist of mostly alternative rock and other great music… From Coheed and Cambria to Sublime. There are couches and a floor seated area as well. All being extremely comfortable.
The staff- again friendly and get the highest score.
The cost- hookahs usually are from the $10 to $14 range, and drinks are around the same price you would find them in a store. Shisha to go usually cost $10 for 100g, which is also the cheapest in the area.
The selection- The wide variety and brands offered are definitely worth your time, try new mixes and add ice, milk, Monster energy drinks, or anything they offer… be creative!
Overall this is hands down the best lounge I’ve ever been to. They sell new hookahs as well, and accessories. Be sure to check this place out, opens daily at 7pm.They do ID so don’t waste your time without it, you should be 18 to smoke anyways.

Flavor Description:
When I originally went in to purchase this shisha, I was looking for something I’ve never had from Starbuzz, it was a tough choice between this and a few other shisha flavors… I decided to purchase a 250g can and try this great flavor. I was hoping more for an apple pie flavoring, though what I got was very acceptable.
I can describe this flavor as a double apple (black liquorish) substitute, where the apple flavor is actually there! Most Double Apple flavors don’t really have the apple flavoring that is advertises, though here I can really taste apple! The scent of the shisha is double apple, though more sweet than others. It definitely had a strong smell, that was very pleasant and could be used as air freshener (though I do not recommend).
The cut to the shisha is typical Starbuzz, and very acceptable. The one thing about the shisha I do not like is it still has the dye (coloring to the shisha), that recently Starbuzz has significantly cut back on, though the dye has little to no effect on the flavor or smoking ability of the flavor.
Overall, I do recommend this flavor, and I believe using it as part of a mix with either cinnamon, vanilla or coconut (maybe even Starbuzz’s Cocojumbo). The flavor is stronger, so when you decide to mix it, make sure you use a flavor that can equally match it, or set it to the level of your liking. If you enjoy double apple, and would like it to have sweeter version, this is for you. I see me trying to mix this flavor for a time to come and hopefully will find that perfect combination.
First review coming later today!
